Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR) provides a platform to young people in order to understand the disaster, conflict and manage/mitigate the conflict-based disasters and its effects. In this regard, KIIR organized training workshop titled “One Day Training workshop on Disaster Management” for the students of Pearl Valley College BAGH on 22nd September, 2019. This year we intend to implement our revamped disaster management program designed for individuals residing in Azad Kashmir. Logistical challenges, poor infrastructure and lack of awareness have worsened the impact of natural disasters. Participants will work though a hypothetical disaster situation and develop practical solutions that can save lives and lessen impact. The idea is to paint a very vivid picture of what could potentially occur and how widespread its effect could be. Subsequently, the participants will be able to develop solutions for pain points they have identified through the first portion of the workshop. With practical exposure, we intend to:
• Build skills that can mitigate the impact of any future disaster through better planning.
• Guide participants on how to engage the public section to adhere to earthquake resistant infrastructure and,
• Create plans for faster and more effective logistical support in case of a disaster.
