KIIR provides space to all political parties, and religious and ethnic groups to discuss and agree upon common grounds. Activities are aimed towards the inclusion of Kashmiris in the resolution of Kashmir dispute and peace building.
Over the years, KIIR has arranged several training programs for political leaders and parliamentarian of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Washington DC engaging different think tanks and experts. KIIR arranged study tours of AJK civil society to Northern Ireland and South Africa to study the reconciliation processes there. In 2007 KIIR organised a two days conference in collaboration with Institute of strategic studies Islamabad (ISSI) which was attended by the representatives of world renowned think tanks and institutions. In order to bridge the gap between political leaders of Azad Kashmir and Indian occupied Kashmir, KIIR also arranged the first Kashmir Leadership Conference in 2008.
For greater awareness, KIIR organized workshops and training programs for young political leaders in AJK. Efforts were made to create consensus on issues of significance, with reference to the Kashmir conflict. A landmark conference was organized in Dubai in 2017 that brought together all political parties in pursuit of finding viable solutions to the simmering conflict and express their feeling on the human rights situation of Indian occupied Kashmir.
